The Life of CLAUDE D BAKER Jr.
Claude D Baker, Jr., 91, died Friday, July 23, 2010 at his home in Des Moines. He was born July 3, 1919 to Ferne and Claude D Baker, Sr. and grew up in Mingo, IA.
Claude is survived by his wife, Vera; sons, Charles (Shirley) Baker, Dwight (Julie) Baker and Jeffrey (Andrea) Baker; two step-daughters, Judy (Edd) Scheer and Diana Strait; stepson, Richard (Phyllis) Huitt; three grandchildren, Myshell, David, and Jared Baker; a sister, Joyce O’Brien and numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Viola Whyle; second wife, Virginia Johnson; brother, John and sister, Alice.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Simpson United Methodist Church, 2600 Capitol Avenue, Des Moines. A private family burial will be held at a later date at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 26, 2010 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Simpson United Methodist Church in loving memory of Claude.
