The Life of HENRY HAROLD SPARKS
Henry Sparks, 76, died September 30, 2006 at Mercy Hospital of esophageal cancer. Funeral services with military honors will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2006, at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeal Home, 121 NW 60th Ave. in Des Moines. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Henry was born August 29, 1930 in Des Moines. He married JoAnn Cloud on June 9, 1951. Henry was a member of American Legion Post #374, of which he was on the Ceremonial Squad, and Early Wheels of Iowa Car Club. Henry enjoyed gardening, yard work, music, and reading. Henry worked for The Register and Tribune as a foreman in the composing room for 27 years, as well as a supervisor for Drake University in the Building and Grounds Department for 15 years.
Henry is survived by his wife, JoAnn, his children, Kate Cloudsparks and Nan Dunlap, both of Des Moines, Ed Sparks of Minnesota; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Helen Sparks.
