The Life of EVELYN LUCRETIA RAU COMISKEY
Evelyn Rau Comiskey joined our Lord Jesus Christ on March 27, 2009, at the age of 87. She was born in Chicago, spent most of her childhood in Indianola, and raised her children while living on the Southside of Des Moines.
She passed peacefully at the home of her eldest son and his wife in Placentia, CA.Evelyn served our country in WW2 as a Navy Wave. She became a registered nurse at Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in 1950 and continued to work at Iowa Methodist Hospital for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Rolland Comiskey and her brother Wendell Rau. Survivors include three children: John (Ginger) Comiskey of Placentia, CA, Bill Comiskey of Des Moines, Jane (John) Rike of Centreville, VA. Four grandchildren: Laurie Durbois, Lindsay Burdette, Joel Comiskey, and Natalie Rike. Three great-grandchildren: Oliver and Bennett Durbois and Raegan Burdette. Her sister Francis Calkins of Kingman, AZ, also survives her.
A graveside service will be held in Des Moines at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery at 11 a.m. on June 12.
