The Life of DONA J MORRIS

Dona J. Morris, daughter of John P. Morgan and Esther C. (Leech) Morgan was born February 13, 1938 in Bettendorf, IA. She went home to be with the Lord on March 21, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, IA at the age of 69.

She grew up in Ophiem, IL before her family moved to Garden Grove, Iowa in 1950. She graduated from Garden Grove High School where as seniors she and her future husband, Bob were the Homecoming King and Queen. She moved to Des Moines in 1957 where she was united in marriage to Robert L Morris.

Dona spent most of her working career in secretarial positions in and around the Des Moines area including Preferred Risk, Iowa Mobile Housing Inst., Mercy School of Nursing, and several Church Ministries before retiring. She enjoyed camping at their acreage in southern Iowa, attending Bluegrass Music Festivals, and entertaining friends and family in her spare time. Dona was a member of the Capitol City Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Don Morgan. Dona will forever be remembered in the hearts and memories of her husband of nearly 50 years, Bob Morris, her daughters, Shelly Morris-Greer and Sherry Leonard; son-in-law, Ray Greer, Dona commented many times that “one” of her greatest blessings was her 4 grandsons: Trace 19, Chandler 9, Devin 9, and Jason 7 all of Des Moines, sisters, Dee Hultman and husband Richard of Ankeny, Diana Foltz and husband Osa of Lineville, 5 sister-in-laws: Joyce Morgan of New Virginia, Rosalie Hill and husband Dale of Davis City, Norma Jean Willis of North Liberty, Becky Helton and husband Lorren of Davis City, Barb Bellon and husband Vic of Leon; 2 brother-in-laws: Bill Morris and wife Bette of Des Moines, and Chuck Morris and wife Linda of Platte City, MO., aunt, Mildred Leech of Humeston, several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
