The Life of ROBERT JOSEPH RUSH

Robert J. Rush, 85, passed away at home August 3, 2011. Bob was born in Van Buren, Arkansas to Joseph and Mary James Rush. He graduated from Dowling High School, served in the Navy during WW II and worked for the Des Moines Union Railroad for over 40 years as an Engineer. He belonged to the United Transportation Union and VFW. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Glenna Keith Rush. He is also survived by his daughter, Mary Rush Rowe and her husband Glenn, his son, Joseph Rush, granddaughter, Rachael Snyder von Rhine and her husband, Raymond; grandson, Alan Snyder and his wife Ruth (FitzGerald); granddaughter, Torie Rush; great-grandsons, Charles Snyder, Wolfgang von Rhine and Henry Snyder and brothers, James, Roy, Charles and Patrick Rush. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. There will be a visitation at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 5 to 8 p.m. A private farewell burial for family members and relatives will be held 10 a.m. Monday August 8 at Highland Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be given to Iowa Health Hospice or to the charity of your choice.
