The Life of GENEVA MAE WILCOX
Geneva Wilcox, 82, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Kavanagh House due to a stroke, March 6.
She was born on May 30, 1927, the third child of Everett and Leah McCoy, Terril, IA. She graduated from Terril High School.
Geneva trained as a nurse at Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, as a member of the U.S. Nurse Corps. After graduating in 1948 she was employed at Iowa Methodist Hospital many years and later worked as a Private Duty Nurse.
On June 27, 1948, she married Donald B. Wilcox who preceded her in death October 7, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Walter; and her nephew, Grant Clark.
Geneva was a member of Union Park United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She is survived by two sons: Alan, Des Moines, and Carl (Martha) N. Augusta, SC; and sister, Wilmer Clark, Peterson, IA; sisters-in-law, Gladys Bloodworth, Des Moines; and Doris McCoy, Wickcliffe, OH; and many nephews and nieces.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, March 15, 2010 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with family one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Union Park United Methodist Church, Des Moines, in loving memory of Geneva.
