The Life of VALBORG K RITCHHART
Valborg Ritchhart, 92, died Dec. 12, 2008, at Fountain West Health Care Center of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Westover Funeral Home, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. A private burial will be Thursday afternoon at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Valborg Ritchhart was born January 9, 1916, in Jacksonville, Iowa, the daughter of Danish immigrants Hans and Dagmar Marcussen. She had two sisters, Esther and Herdis, and two brothers, Kermit and Helmer. Valborg graduated from Harlan High School and AIB College of Business in Des Moines.
On September 4, 1938, she married John Howard Ritchhart in Des Moines. Valborg was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Des Moines for 60 years, and led the church''s Supportive Sewing group for more than 30 years.
She is survived by her children, Louise Ritchhart of Des Moines, Brian Ritchhart of Everett, Washington, and John Ritchhart of Hamburg, Germany; her six grandchildren, Annika Ritchhart, Kirstin Ritchhart, Megan McGrath, Kent Ritchhart, Heather Ritchhart and Andrew Ritchhart; and her brother, Kermit Marcussen.
Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 10th & Pleasant St. Des Moines, Iowa 50309.
