The Life of ROSE MARGARET MCCAULEY

Rose Margaret McCauley, age 89, died peacefully on May 17, 2007 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa. Rose, the daughter of Henry and Stella Harrison, was born on December 11, 1917 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, and lived in Des Moines area all her life.

She was an Elder and past member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Daughters of the Nile, a charter member of TTT, Chapter EC and the YWCA. She also spent many years doing volunteer work at hospitals and on community drives.

After graduating from East High School, she worked for F.W. Fitch as a secretary. Later on, she worked for the Iowa Legislature for fifteen years as a secretary in both the House and the Senate. She loved that job and the many people she met.

She loved her family, relatives and friends very much. She also loved music and her rose garden. She was an avid Bridge player and played a lot of golf.

She is survived by her sons, Robert J. McCauley, Jr. and Richard (Mary) McCauley, her daughter, Diane McCauley: her seven grandchildren and her six great grandchildren. Her husband, Robert J. McCauley, parents, Henry and Stella Harrison and her sister, Blanche Tamse, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007 at Hamilton’s Near Highland Memory Gardens with visitation one hour prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
