The Life of BILLY D TAYLOR
Billy D. Taylor, 87, passed away at the Dumont Wellness Center in Dumont, Iowa, of a heart attack on August 7, 2011. Billy was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, May 16, 1924, to Della and D.J. Taylor. He had one brother, Vincent, who passed away before him.
He married Jean Elaine Hagman on April 14, 1947, and they had one daughter, Judy. He served in the Navy in World War II on the USS New Jersey. He retired from Blue Cross – Blue Shield in Des Moines. His wife, Jean, passed away after 29 years of marriage. He later married Edna Ripperger, who also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy and her husband, Dave Hanawalt of Fargo, ND; granddaughter, Heather Bjur and her husband, Chris Bjur; great-grandsons, Elijah and Ezra Bjur of Hawley, MN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 2011, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, with graveside services to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
