The Life of MADLYNN MAE BEXELL
Madlynn M. Bexell, 85, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 21, 2010. She enjoyed children, sewing, picture taking, singing in her church choir, church activities and attending the Southside Senior Citizen’s Center. She reminisced often about all the vacations taken with her family throughout the years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her pets, especially her dog, Toby. Madlynn and Vince also enjoyed camping together.
Madlynn was born on May 28, 1925 to Charles and Lillian Morse. She was a life long Des Moines resident. She married Vincent Bexell on June 22, 1945 and enjoyed 58 years together. She retired from Northwestern Bell Telephone Co.
A visitation will be held at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home on Monday, October 25th from 5-8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at Indianola Heights Christian Church, where she was a member for many years, on Tuesday, Oct. 26th at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
Madlynn was preceded in death by her husband Vincent C. Bexell, her grandson Jake Cole, her sisters, Dolores Cisco and Darlene Hensley and brother, Floyd Morse; she is survived by her sons, Dennis and Jeffrey; her daughters, Donna (Ed) Smith, Vicky (Bryan) Cole, Debbie (Rich) Sychra, and Tammi (Dave Dunahoo) Bexell; brothers-in-law, Gerald Cisco, Arlen Bexell and Marvin Bexell; her fifteen grandchildren: Melissa, Mike, Scott, Matt, Natalie, Allison, David, Emily, Austin, Johnny, Kaleigh, Carole, Amy, Luke and Jared; sixteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and close family friends Kenny, Julie, Lily and Maggie Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to Indianola Heights Christian Church.
