The Life of SANDRA L WARDWELL
Sandra Lea Wardwell, 73, passed from this life Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Broadlawns Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, April 17 at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Sandra Lea Wardwell was born June 22, 1936 in Des Moines, the daughter of Delbert and Lila (Beck) Christy. She lived most of her life in Des Moines except for 15 years in California. Sandra was a homemaker, a member of Grandview Park Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society. She loved spending time with her babies and attending her granddaughters ball games. She also enjoyed spending time at the Norwoodville Senior Center and having coffee with friends at Hy-Vee.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gary Christy. She is survived by her husband, Edward; three daughters, Rhonda (Bob) Kepler of Fullerton, California, Cynthia (Forrest) Wennermark of Cedar Rapids and Brenda Bryson of West Des Moines; two sons, Donald (Elba) Renshaw of South Pasadena, California and Curtis (Christine) Renshaw of Courtenay, British Columbia; four step-children, Mary Ellen Metro and Ronald Wardwell of Shelton, Washington and Mary Lou McLean and Christina Davis of Des Moines; two sisters, Nona Keith of Arkansas and Sally (Jack) Walker of Grand Junction; 24 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., today (Friday) at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Norwoodville Senior Center.
