The Life of MARY LOUISE BRINKMAN

Mary Louise Brinkman, 82, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2011, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston following a stroke. She was born February 2, 1928, to Frank and Florence Berg in Des Moines. Mary was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker and provided childcare for 25 years at the First United Methodist Church in Ankeny. Mary accompanied her husband, Henry, to many Destroyer Escort Sailor Association conventions across the country for WWII veterans. She delivered tires for Lange Tire of Ankeny with her husband and even continued after his death. Mary is survived by her son, Richard (Mary Kay) Brinkman of Urbandale; daughter, Patty (Akram) Nagi of Des Moines; grandchildren, Darlene (Brad) Blaker, Diana Hewitt, Daniel Brinkman, Sheryl (Rob) Daake, Jeff (Marissa) Brinkman, Suzie (Jared) Seehusen, Sarah (Brian) Yost-Phillips, Daniel Yost, Myessa Nagi, Rashad Nagi; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Brinkman; son, Henry Charles Brinkman; parents, Frank and Florence Berg; and brothers, Frank and Chuck Berg. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Monday, January 24, 2011, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will visit with friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Mercy Hospice Johnston for all the wonderful care you provided Mary.
