The Life of RUTH MARIE JACOBS
Ruth Marie Jacobs, 90, ended her journey on earth peacefully and was received by her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 30, 2011.
Ruth was born on July 5, 1920, to Charley and Nellie Woods in southern Iowa. She was married to Delbert Wayne Jacobs, Sr., on September 7, 1939. She enjoyed watching birds, especially the Hummingbirds, sightseeing, camping, her flowers, gardening and family and friends gatherings.
She is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Margaret (Wayne) Ewing of Riverside, CA; sons Delbert W. Jacobs, Jr. (Donna), of Burnsville, MN, and Thomas V. Jacobs, Sr. (Sandra), of Des Moines; 6 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert, her parents, and 4 brothers, Albert, Alvah, Elmer and Roy Woods.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at 12 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, IA, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Family will greet friends Tuesday, May 3, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at University Park Nursing and Rehabilitations for the care, kindness, and compassion extended to Ruth these past ten years. They would also like to thank the staff from Hospice for their care and compassion shown to Ruth and her family the last week of Ruth’s life.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sunshine Open Bible Church, 2130 Easton Blvd., in Des Moines.
