The Life of ROBERT GEORGE ROGGENSACK

Robert G. Roggensack, age 87, passed away at the Regency Care Center in Norwalk on Sunday, Nov.14, 2010. Robert was born on June 28, 1923 in Des Moines where he spent the majority of his long life. He was the eldest of three boys born to Irene Mae Roggensack (Hardin) and George Charles Roggensack. He graduated from Dowling High School in June 1942. Robert had many interests and talents including gardening, yard care and woodcarving. Over the years, he taught woodcarving to many students at a variety of churches, schools and community centers throughout Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Mary, who died at birth in May 1935. He is survived by two younger brothers, David Roggensack, Kerhonkson, N.Y. and George F. (Jeff) Roggensack, Madison, WI as well as two nieces, one nephew, six grand nieces and two grand nephews. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov 27, 2010 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow at the family plot at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Robert will be remembered for his close commitment to his parents and his faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ. Robert's family would like to thank the staff at Regency Care Center for the care and support they provided during his residence there and also the staff of Iowa Hospice for their care and commitment during the several weeks preceding his death.
