The Life of RICHARD HARLOW BEVERIDGE

Richard H. Beveridge, 84, passed, peacefully, at his home in Florida, on December 4. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Doris, and two sisters, Dorthy Jean Robinson and Betty Hemming. He is survived by his two loving sons, Dave Beveridge ( Jolene ) of Grimes and Dan Beveridge ( Debbie ) of Tampa, Florida, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Dick grew up in Des Moines and attended North High school where he played 1st chair clarinet. Upon graduation, he and his buddies joined the Marine Corps, the service, of which, he was very proud. Dick was a member of the 1ST Marine Division during WWII, serving on Peleliu, Palau Islands, and Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands. After the war, he was employed by Lamb's Dental Lab. After several years, he opened Beveridge Dental Crafts, from which he retired. He was a former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, and the Isaac Walton League. Dick enjoyed playing the bag pipes and marching with the Mackenzie Highlanders Pipes and Drums for many years in Central Iowa. For the past several years he had enjoyed several cruises, the Highland Games in New Hampshire, his dogs and cat, and relaxing with Dave and Dan and the grandkids. A memorial service will be held at Westover Chapel, 63rd and Hickman, February 13. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m. Interment will be at a private ceremony at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or The Animal Rescue of Central Iowa.
