The Life of JOHN WILLIAM LUTZ
John W. Lutz, 69, died of lung cancer Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at his home in Des Moines. He was born August 6, 1940 in Des Moines, IA to Stella and Claude Lutz.
He was passionate about SOY – Serve Our Youth of Iowa. John was always the first to help and would do anything for anybody. His gentle smile will be missed by his family and many friends.
John is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Joyce; sons, Marty Lutz, Tim (Robin) Lutz, and Allen (Cathey) Wright; daughters, Vikki Ver Huel and Tamra (Keith) Mullen; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Hank (Fran) Lutz, Dick (Mavis) Lutz, and Dave (Mary) Lutz; sisters, Rosalie (Jack) Orrell and Joan (Dick) Scholberg; as well as many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Claudine Switzer.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m., Saturday, July 24, 2010 at Meredith Drive Reformed Church, 5128 Meredith Drive, Des Moines with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, July 23, 2010 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines.
