The Life of YVONNE FRANCES MCLAUGHLIN
Yvonne Frances McLaughlin, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2009, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital after a brief illness. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2009, at 12:00 p.m., at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, in Des Moines. Inurnment of cremated remains will follow the service at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Yvonne retired from the Internal Revenue Service after 26 years of service. She was an avid reader and a passionate fan of all things Star Trek. She was a founding member of the Star Trek Science Club, Starbase 17 and enjoyed many Star Trek activities and travels with her friends from the club.
Yvonne was born in Los Angeles, Calif., on August 21, 1924. She married Robert V. McLaughlin on October 8, 1944. They were married 46 years, until Robert’s death in 1991.
Yvonne is survived by her children, Vicki (Walt) Shields of Indianola, Wendy (Harry) Breaux of Des Moines, Bonnie (John) Kolkmeier of Houston, Texas, and one granddaughter, Jessica Kolkmeier, of Houston, Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Rescue League.
