The Life of CHARLES WILLIAM ANDERSON

Charles William Anderson, 82, passed away on April 24, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Charles was born February 13, 1927, in West Union, IA, the son of Oliver and Helen (Carter) Anderson. He attended school in West Union, IA, and Summer, IA, and graduated from Pocahontas High School in Pocahontas, IA. Charles served the Army during World War II overseas in Vienna, Austria in the Adjutant General section, and was discharged in January 1947 with the rank of Sgt. He was in sales, selling industrial chemicals, insurance and real estate retiring in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion for 63 consecutive years and was a member of Post 663 in Urbandale, IA. Charles was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Urbandale. He married Patricia Plumb on August 19, 1947. Charles will be missed by his wife, Patricia, of Des Moines; daughter, Charlotte (Dave) DeHaven, of Oelwein, IA; sons, Bill (Jean), of Cedar Falls, IA, Ken, of Eugene, OR, and Tom, of Johnston, IA; six grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and sister, Mary Coleman, of Charlotte, NC.
