The Life of HAROLD RAYMOND BELIEU

Harold Belieu, 69, passed away Friday December 12, 2008, at Iowa Methodist Hospital. He was born on October 25, 1939 to Harry and Viola Belieu in Des Moines. Harold graduated from East High in 1958. He married Janet Roth on January 18, 1958 and served in the United States Marine Corps until his honorable discharge. Following the military, Harold worked as a Des Moines Police Officer for 13 years. He then was a plumber for 15 years and a plumbing inspector for 10 years following. Harold was a master plumber and became a certified UA Instructor through Michigan State University during his 12 years as a Plumbing Instructor. Recently, he had been working for Elder Corporation as a safety officer. Harold was a member of Eastgate Lodge, Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 33, the Lake Ponderosa Association and served on the board of the Tradesman Community Credit Union for 23 years, most recently as the Chairman of the Board. He enjoyed spending time at Lake Ponderosa, helping others, keeping-up-to-date on plumbing codes and spending time with his family and friends. Harold is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet; his sons, Steven, Dennis (Bev), and Michael; his daughter, Jennifer (Bob) Selby; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his brothers, Dale (Ilene) and Bob Belieu. Harold was preceded in death by his sister, Darlene Belieu, his parents, his brothers, John and Harry, and his great-granddaughter, Katelyn Jo Belieu. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue; burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with family 5-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, Johnston Youth Homes or PACE Juvenile Center.
