The Life of MAURINE L HARRIS COE

Maurine L. Harris Coe passed away Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Altoona Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home where the family will be present from 5 to 8 p.m.

Maurine was born July 4, 1921 in Malcom, Iowa to Sarah and Maurice Brewer. She worked as a secretary to the curator of the State of Iowa Historical Bulding for 20 years, retiring in 1986. Maurine served on the school board of Southeast Polk Community School district for 17 years. Maurine was a member of Highland Park Presbhyterian Church, the Iowa Genealogy Society, the Daughters of the American Revoltion, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Society of Mayflower Descendants, the Society of the Daughters of the American Colonists, the Colonial Dames of America, the National Society of New England Women and the Alpha Society, a poetry group. Maurine enjoyed genealogy, reading, playing cribbage, collecting lighthouses, and knitting.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd Coe; her son, Craig Harris (Carla) of Davis, CA.; her daughters, Linda Harris of Altoona and Vicki Neilson (Gregory) of Sandy, OR.; her step-daughter, Jeannine Armstrong (Tom) of Florida; by her five grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Harris and by her sister, Jean Schnoebelen.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Highland Park Presbyterian Church, the American Heart Association or the Altoona Public Library.
