The Life of DALE ARNOLD CHRISTENSEN

Dale Arnold Christensen, 83, passed away Friday, October 16, 2009 at the Bright Kavanagh House with his loving family at his side. Dale was born November 15, 1925 in Harlan, Iowa to Pena and Martin Christensen. He served his country proudly in the US Army during the Korean War. Prior to moving to Chariton, Dale lived in Harlan where he served as assistant Police Chief. In Harlan he and his wife owned and operated a Dairy Farm and also were cross country, team truck drivers. Dale loved being with his family. He enjoyed many hobbies including driving motorcycles, boating, racecars. He was an avid football fan, and loved the Hawkeyes. He went bear hunting in Canada. Dale was a longtime member of the Church of the Nazarene and a member of DAV. Dale is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly; his daughters, Dalene (Bob) Norgaard, Julene Christensen, Charlene (Daniel) Butler, Marcalene (Todd) Davis; 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, October 19, 2009, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
