The Life of LARRY D HAGEN

Larry D. Hagen, 55, of Dexter died of cancer Sunday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Highland Park Church of the Open Bible in Des Moines. Cremation will follow. Mr. Hagen was born in Iowa City and lived in Des Moines, Anita and Afton before returning to the Diamond Head Lake area in 1991. He was senior electrical inspector for the city of Des Moines and co-owner of D & L Concessions of Dexter. A veteran of the Army, he had been a former Des Moines firefighter and traffic signal inspector. He was a member of the Metro Credit Union board of directors, Home Masonic Lodge, York Rite Bodies, Des Moines Consistory, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and was involved in several athletic associations and had umpired baseball and softball games from little League to the university level. Surviving are his wife, Darlene Hardesty-Hagen; a daughter, Michelle Hagen-Welborn of Arlington, TX; four sisters, Lorene Hart of Des Moines, Mary Anne Erskine of Lorimor, Suzy Willett of Afton and Betty Lou Tucker of Afton; six brothers, Joe and Lynn, both of Tulsa, OK, Kenny of Prole, Mike of Creston, John of Owasso, OK, and Tommy of Winterset; and two grandchildren. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Hamilton''s Funeral Home in Des Moines, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. Masonic service.
