The Life of JANET SUE FACKLER
Jan Fackler, 69, was born August 9, 1941, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Grace Smith. She died Thursday, May 5, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
She was a member and an active volunteer at the First United Methodist Church, and the West Des Moines Senior Center. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Jan often helped lobby for senior issues. She loved animals, especially her cats, and watching Iowa Hawkeye sports.
Jan is survived by her children, Michelle (Rob) Heater, Michael (Gretchen) Fackler and Melissa Fackler; grandchildren, Jessica Heater, and Nathan and Colton Fackler; sister, Jody McCombs Miller; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will greet visitors one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to her family.
