The Life of LEROY GEORGE FENTON

Leroy G. Fenton, 77, passed away Friday, March 23, 2007, surrounded by his family at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, IA.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 4003 2nd Avenue in Des Moines.  Burial will take place in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation with family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Leroy was born September 23, 1929 in Alden, IA.  He married Deloris Bullock on September 17, 1954.  He retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber in 1992, after 37 years of service.  Leroy was a veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean War.  He enjoyed going fishing and camping with grandkids, the Great Iowa Tractor Ride, watching the grandkids play little league, watching the RFD channel, and watching Nascar.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Deloris of 52 years; three sons, Robert (Carol) Fenton, and grandchildren:  Tyler and Derek; Roger (Lisa) Fenton, and grandchildren, Roger, Jr. and Chad, and step-grandchildren:  Angie Peacock and Sarah Felt;  and Ronald (Bessie) Fenton, and grandchildren:  Travis and Joshua; three sisters, Mary Ellen Nerring, Sherrie (Mike) King, and Marsha (Allen) Morris; three brothers, Dean Fenton, Calvin (Jan) Fenton and Mike (Joan) Fenton, and a host of nieces and nephews, two great-grandchildren, Madison and Parker Fenton.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Fenton; twin great-grandsons; a brother, Richard Fenton and this grandparents.  Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice, his Church, or the Iowa Jewish Life Center.
