The Life of ELDON EUGENE EMMACK

Eldon E. Emmack, 71, died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born on July 20, 1938 to Donald and Harriett Emmack in Colfax, Iowa. Eldon enjoyed life to its fullest, starting out each day with breakfast at his favorite neighborhood restaurant with his buddies. Not a day would pass that he wasn't the first to be in his usual seat and serving coffee. Eldon was the co-owner of D&E Auto, a business that he started with his Dad and one that he currently co-owned along with son, Steve. They shared many great times at the SHOP along with their abundant friends and comrades in the business. Eldon was also a great jazz musician playing string bass with the Don Hoy band and the John Foster combo. Music was his passion and his creative outlet. Eldon was a wonderful husband and Dad, as he always put his family first and was very proud of them all. He will be unbelievably missed by those who survive him; his wife, Marian; son, Steve and wife Rhonda; and daughter, Suzy. Other survivors include many incredible brothers/sisters-in-law and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Eldon was preceded in death by his father and mother, Donald and Harriett, sisters, Karen and Carol. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009, at Highland Park Christian Church, 4260 NW 6th Drive, Des Moines, Iowa, followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Des Moines. A visitation with the family present will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa.
