The Life of CARLA LEE CHRISTIANSON BIERMAN
Carla Lee Bierman, 64, died Sunday, November 21, 2010, at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. She was born August 23, 1946, in Des Moines to Carl and Donna (Powers) Christenson.
She worked for the Des Moines Police Department from February 1984-December 2007. Carla was very passionate about animals and was a supporter of Animal Lifeline, a no-kill shelter. She enjoyed shopping, had a love for animals, especially her dogs Lexie and Bitsy, and her visits with Glory the bomb dog.
Carla is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Darold “Butch” Bierman; children, Julie Goldner, Rob (Lisa) Bierman, John Bierman, Tammy (Ronnie) Simmons, and Melissa Bierman; grandchildren, Laina (Chaz), Whitney (Dan), Mario, Rick, Nicholas, Taylor, Jordan, and Colton; great-granddaughter, Miss Olivia; and her brother, Jim (Jane) Christenson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, November 27, 2010, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will visit with friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
