Mary Moore, 90, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston with her family at her side. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at the funeral home. Mary Moore was born February 4, 1920, in Chicago, IL, to Tony and Minnie Rogulic. She came to Iowa in 1941 and was married to Harry Moore for 57 years. Mary retired from Mercy Hospital after 27 years of service. Mary was a Chicago Cubs fan and never missed a game. She enjoyed watching Nascar races and going to Prairie Meadows for the horse racing. She loved spending time with her family and friends and cooking up new recipes. Mary could tell some wonderful stories and we will miss her singing love songs in Croatian. She had always said she would live until she was 90 and she would dance her last dance at her party; a memory that her family and friends will always remember. Mary was a member of the Community Baptist Church in Ankeny. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Larry (Judy) Moore of Harrison, AK; two daughters, Eileen (Bob) Anderson of Melcher and Star (Vinnie) Brown of Altoona; fifteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; parents; two sisters, and two brothers. The family would like to acknowledge Dr. Shannon Hood and Mercy Hospice for the wonderful care they provided over the years and during Mary's final days. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Mary.
