The Life of DARLENE YVONNE HAGEN

Darlene Y. Hardesty Hagen, 59, of Dexter died of Lou Gehrig''s disease Thursday at her sister''s home in Des Moines. Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Maranatha Open Bible Church in Des Moines, of which she was a member. Cremation will follow services. Mrs. Hagen wsa born in Des Moines and had lived here most of her life before moving to Diamond Head Lake in Dexter. She was a retired underwriter with Equitable of Iowa, had owned and operated D and L Concessions and had worked in nursing at Stuart Community Care and Mercy Private Care. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and was active in Parents Without Partners. She enjoyed gardening. She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Hagen-Welborn of Dexter; a sister, Maxine Lettington, and a brother, Bob Hardesty Jr. both of Des Moines; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry. Her finance'' was Tom O''Harra of Grinnell. Friends may call from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, where an Order of the Eastern Star service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or her church.
