The Life of JAMES MICHAEL COOK

James M. Cook, 62, died Friday, May 22, 2009 at his home surrounded by his family. Jim was born on November 24, 1946, to Howard and Mary Cook in Grinnell, Iowa. Jim served in the United States Army, serving one year in Vietnam until his honorable discharge. He worked for AT&T as an Account Executive for many years. He enjoyed gardening, music, and he was an avid ISU fan. His favorite past time was spending time with his family and friends. Jim was a Stephen Minister at the Ankeny First United Methodist Church. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Susan Cook; daughter, Michelle (David) Arteberry, their children Sam and Noah; daughter, Jamie (Bill) Porter, their children Jacob and Ava; his mother, Mary Cook; sister, Sandi (Arlo) Hall; brothers, Larry (Mary) Cook and Rev. Robert Cook. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Cook. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Ankeny First United Methodist Church in loving memory of Jim. "A man of strong faith and a friend to all."
