The Life of RAYMOND DALE TAYLOR

Raymond D. Taylor, 80, of Des Moines died Monday, February 8, 2010. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 15 at Grandview Park Baptist Church. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens.

Ray was born near Batavia, IA, on August 22, 1929. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict and later moved to Des Moines. He worked as the Interstate Compact Administrator for the Iowa Department of Corrections for 37 years. After retiring he worked ten years at the Euclid HyVee.

He was a member of Grandview Park Baptist Church where he served in many ministries including deacon, Sunday School teacher, Awana leader and school board member. Ray was a skilled woodworker and carpenter. He enjoyed cheering for the Iowa Cubs, Grandview Defenders and his grandkids.

Left to cherish Ray''s memory include his wife of 55 years, Jean; daughter, Rhonda (Mark) Collogan of Des Moines; son, Brent (Becky) Taylor of Westfield, WI; brother, Ivan Taylor and sister, Betty (Lou) Crumes of Ottumwa; sister, Florence Patterson of Mesa, AZ; brother, Lewis Taylor of Des Moines; six grandchildren; one granddaughter-in-law; and one great-grandson.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Iles Funeral Homes-Grandview Park Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to Grandview Park Baptist Church.>>
