The Life of ROBERT ELWOOD PALMER

Robert “Bob” Palmer, 64, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2008. Bob was born on January 3, 1944 to Eileen and Elwood Palmer. Bob was born in Osceola, Iowa where he attended the Clarke Community Schools. Bob was in the US Navy and served in Viet Nam, and enjoyed motocross, watching grandchildren participate in sports and spending time with friends and family. Bob worked at Hy-Vee for many years as an equipment technician and a Chemical Dependency Counselor at Powell. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; three children, Tracey (Doug) Goforth, Rob (Tonya) Palmer, Kevin (Heidi) Palmer; brothers, Don (Carol) Palmer and Dick (Sande) Palmer of Des Moines; six grandchildren, Jared and Stephen Goforth; Ted, Madison, Kennedy Palmer; and Nicole Loomis; three great grandchildren, Roman, Haley and Emilia. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two infant sisters. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Ankeny First United Methodist Church, 206 SW Walnut Street in Ankeny. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, in Des Moines.
