Richard Gartin, 81, died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny, Iowa. Richard was born on March 28, 1926 in Des Moines to Luther and Barbara Gartin. He was a lifelong resident of Des Moines and was a teacher at DMACC until his retirement in 1987.
Richard is survived by his two sons, Larry Gartin and Dan Gartin; brother, Carroll Gartin; sister; Marilyn Hibbs; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2008 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Family will greet friends from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. He was one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all that know him.
