The Life of WALTER L HIATT JR

Walter L. Hiatt, Jr., 82, died on Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at the Fleur Heights Care Center from complications of diabetes.  Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hamilton''s Southtown Funeral Home.  Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.  The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Walter was born on November 23, 1924, in Des Moines and was a retired Teamster and an over the road truck driver for 33 years.  He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed NASCAR, bowling and going to casinos.

He is survived by his wife Beverly, his son John (Mary) Hiatt of Des Moines, his step-sons, Kelly (Deb) and Robert (Bev) Venosky, both of Des Moines; his stepdaughters, Kathy (Terry) Hazelbaker of Lakeville, MN, and Becky (John) McNew of Des Moines; his sister, Margie Hiatt-Green of Des Moines; his grandson, Derek (Misty); his ten step-grandchildren, his great-granddaughter, Anderea; his 29 step-great-grandchildren; his one step-great-great-grandchild as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma "Tiny" Hiatt, his parents, his four brothers, his sister and step-daughter.
