The Life of GENEVIEVE MARGARET WELKER
Genevieve Margaret Welker, daughter of Joe Kauzlarich and Droga Storvich, was born on May 3, 1916, in Melcher, Iowa. She passed away June 29, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 95. She worked at the ammunition plant in Perry, Iowa.
She enjoyed walking, playing pool, spending time with friends and family, and making various crafts.
Genevieve is survived by her children, Larry Welker, Bonita Shipley, Gary Welker, Robert Welker, Joseph Welker, and Jessie Purscell; sixteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and her sister, Helen Blaisdell, of Golden, Colorado. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold James Welker; daughter, Sharon Comer; son, Charles Welker; grandson, Kevin Welker; and sisters, Mary Poole and Lucy Retman.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family in loving memory of Genevieve.
All services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. There will be a visitation from 9 to 11 a.m., followed immediately by the funeral service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, July 2, 2011. Genevieve will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
The family would like to invite everyone to a luncheon following the burial at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 2625 Hubbell Avenue in Des Moines.
