The Life of ALLIS MAY MCDANNEL
Allis May Mc Dannel, 84, died March 3, 2009 at her home from complications of congestive heart failure. Services will 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2009 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Allis May Best was born to the union of Lula May Gillette and Samuel E. Best in St. Joseph, Missouri June 17, 1924. She received her high school diploma at the age of 52 and received a 2-year nursing degree from DMACC. She was a retired nurse and a member of the local TOPS Club. She married Irvin Keith Mc Dannel on March 21, 1942. To this union five children were born. She is survived by daughter, Janet Bryant and companion David Lewis of Stanton, Iowa, daughter, Linda Hayes and husband Gerald of Indianola, Iowa, son, Allen Mc Dannel of Carlisle, Iowa, son, Paul Mc Dannel of Carlisle, Iowa, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren. Many other friends and family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Mc Dannel; son, Irvin Mc Dannel, Jr.; an infant grandson, Leslie Todd Mc Dannel, her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Family and friends will hold visitation on Sunday, March 8 from 2-4 p.m. at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family.
