The Life of GLORIA MAE EVANS
Gloria Evans, 86, passed away in her beloved home on December 30, 2009. Gloria was born on September 25, 1923, to Edward and Myrtle Mackin in Des Moines. She was a life-long resident of Des Moines and worked at Goode’s Greenhouses for twenty years, where she was happiest surrounded by beautiful flowers. She then enjoyed thirty years of retirement working in her own gardens.
Gloria is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years, Leo (“Bing”); son, David of Little Rock, California; daughter, Mindy Branstetter of Hancock, Vermont; five grandchildren; step-brother, Darvin Dare; step-sister, Dorothy Benge; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. A visitation with the family present will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2010, at the funeral home.
