The Life of DAVID PAUL BATTLES

David Paul Battles, 79, died, Tuesday, April 29, 2008. David was born on June 12, 1928 in Des Moines to Paul William Battles and Blanche Louise (McKeehan) Battles, and has resided in Des Moines his entire life. Dave was employed at Lennox Furnace Co. for 11 years. He retired from Globe Machinery after working there for 28 years. David was an avid golfer and fisherman. He also enjoyed being with his family and friends. He was an active member of the All Saints Catholic Church for 53 years. Dave and wife Jean traveled extensively throughout the USA, Mexico and Canada. In their later years, they spent the winters in Arizona. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jean Marie (McPherson) Battles; sons, Joseph (Glenda) Battles of Des Moines and Mark Allen (Jan) Battles of Minnetonka, MN; daughters, Danelle (Kevin) Little of Indianola and Janet Louise (Gary) Seuferer of Ankeny; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Juanita Louise (Battles) Parks. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008 at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Ave.; burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Family will visit with friends from 5-7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service on Friday at All Saints Catholic Church. Memorial contributions can be made to All Saints Catholic Church in loving memory of Dave.
