The Life of ELIZABETH HELEN MCVAY

Elizabeth "Liz" McVay, 94, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, IA.  Funeral services will be  held 1 p.m., Friday, May 15, at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel, with burial following at Highland Memoory Gardens Cemetery

Elizabeth Helen Robinson was born January 20, 1915, in Des Moines, the daughter of Cuthbert and Freda (Sharp) Robinson.  She was a graduate of East High School.  Liz married Harold McVay in 1932.  She had been a Polk County Sheriff''s Deputy and worked in the Bailiff''s Office.  Liz was a member of Acanthus-Waveland Order of Eastern Star Chapter 530 and the Clive Good Idea Club. She enjoyed bowling, golf and dancing.  Liz''s greatest love was her family and spending time with them.

Liz was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; her daughter, Shirley Renes; her grandson, Jeff Howell; and her sisters, Pearl Marshall and Gertrude Dickman.  She is survived by her daughters, Dorothy (Don) Amis, of Chapin, SC,  and Deanna (Dick) Howell, of Urbandale; her son, Butch (Sandra) McVay, of Des Moines; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., today at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel.  Memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Drumm Care Center or Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
