The Life of JOSEPHINE SHIELDS
Josephine Shields, 88, died Monday, October 11, 2010, at the Winterset Care Center in Winterset, Iowa. She was born December 15, 1921, in Des Moines to George H., Sr. and Mary Bickford.
Josephine was a graduate of North High School. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts and a member of the PTA. She enjoyed fishing, quilting, crocheting, word searches, cooking, and decorating award winning cakes.
Josephine is survived by her sons, Roger Dickinson and Junior Shields; daughter/niece, Linda Bickford Hageman; grandsons, David Dickinson, Phil Shields, Terry Bickford, and Jason Hageman; granddaughter, Christina Hageman; and a sister, Maryann Harvey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman (Doc) Shields; sisters, Nora Galvin, Margaret Norris, and Goldie Bickford; and brother, George H. Bickford, Jr.
Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Saturday, October 16, 2010, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with family from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
