The Life of ROBERT GERALD POLLARD

Robert "Bob" Pollard, 86, died February 27, 2010, at Kavanagh on 56th Street surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Friday at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. A visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 4 at the funeral home. Bob served in the Marines on the USS Essex and USS Bunker Hill during WWII. He was a member of Local Union 558 and retired from Forman Ford as a glazier after 38 years. He began two more careers after retirement; the first at Charisma Florist delivering flowers and then at Younkers where he worked for 14 years. Bob was a member of Union Park Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and on many committees. Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean; children, Cathy Baker, Roberta "Bobbie" (Terry) Brodersen, Timothy Pollard, and Jill (Tim) Boyles; grandchildren, Scott, Jennifer, Michelle, Eric and Andrew; great-grandchildren, C.J., Cailie and Kaden; step-great-grandchildren, Kyle and Payton; brother, James Pollard; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be directed to Union Park Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Central Iowa.
