The Life of GEORGE LOUIS SPRINGER Sr.

George Louis Springer, 90, of Mitchellville, died of complications of a stroke Tuesday at Mitchell Villege Care Center there.  Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Des Moines, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery here.

Mr. Springer was born in Mendota, MO, and had lived in Ankeny 58 years before moving to Mitchellville two years ago.  He had been a crew supervisor with Wright Tree Service and was a member of the Iowa Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.  He enjoyed reading, music and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; three sons, Kenneth of Des Moines, Keith of Woodward and George, Jr. of Allendale, MI; four daughters, Colleen Murphy and Lucretia Abbott, both of Ankeny, and Marilyn Erickson and Barbara Staley, both of Des Moines; a sister, Jesse Avitt of Chariton; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to Mitchell Village Care Center.
