The Life of DOROTHY ROSE BENDA
Dorothy R. Benda, 68, of the 3000 block of East 26th St. died of cancer Saturday at Hospice Kavanagh House. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Benda was born in Los Angeles and had lived in Des Moines since 1971. She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Park American Legion Auxiliary.
Surviving are her husband, Vitus "Joe"; two sons, Doug and Randy, both of Des Moines; two daughters, Vicki Madison of Pleasant Hill and Cindy Major of Granger; two brothers, Ralph Cook of Nevada and Rex Cook of Cedar Rapids; four sisters, Barbara Ball and Jean Page, both of Nevada; Betty Nelson of Des Moines and Gela Southard of Glendale, CA; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or John Stoddard Cancer Center.
