The Life of RICHARD A BIVANS

Richard "Dick" Bivans, 66, died Saturday, January 14, 2006 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston.  Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2006, at Highland Park Christian Church, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Hamilton''s near Highland Memory Gardens.

Dick was born January 8, 1940 near Palmyra to George and Velma (McReynolds) Bivans. He graduated from Pleasantville High School.  He served in the Army National Guard and four years in the US Navy.  Dick worked in building maintenance for Owest formerly NWB.  Dick was a member of Highland Park Christian Church.  He was a devoted family man and enjoyed wood working.

Dick is survived by his wife, Jane of Des Moines; five daughters, Michelle Abbas and her daughters, Alyssa and Elise of Memphis, TN, Julia Bivans of Des Moines, Amy (Kevin) Spencer and her daughter, Lily of Santa Barbara, CA, Chris Stoker and Susan Stoker, both of Nashville, TN; two sisters, Hazel (Eldon) Smith of Bloomington, IL and Joyce (Dale) McDivitt of Monticello, IL; mother-in-law, Wilma Roorda of Ankeny; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospicee Johnston, Highland Park Christian Church, or American Cancer Society.
