The Life of PAUL D ISRAEL

Paul D. Israel, 77, of 621 Arthur Ave., died of a lung ailment Tuesday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Dahlstrom Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Israel was born in Atlantic and had lived in Des Moines 47 years. He was a funeral director and retired after 36 years with Dahlstrom Funeral Home, where he was manager for 13 years. A veteran of World War II, he was a member of Iowa and National Funeral DIrectors associations, Baldwin Patterson American Legion post and Disabled American veterans. Among survivors are his wife, Em Jesser-Israel; a stepson, Kenneth Yamen, and a stepdaughter, Shirley Aiken, both of Des Moines and a sister, Eloise Carpenter of Lincoln, NE. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where there will be a 7 p.m. prayer vigil.
