The Life of HARRY MAXWELL SULLENBERGER

Harry Maxwell (Max) Sullenberger, 65, passed away at Taylor House Hospice on September 21, 2003. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St, Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Adventure-Life Church in Altoona, with a military burial following at Highland Memory Gardens.

Max service in the US Army in Korea and was a Vietnam veteran, earning numerous awards for valor including a bronze star with a "V" device. He retired from the US Postal Service in 1999. He was a licensed pilot and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn Sullenberger; his brother and sister-in-law, Dice and Ruth Sullenberger; his stepdaughters, Wendy Lyons and husband Gary and Tammy Bickle and husband Michael; and beloved nieces and nephews. He was the best grandpa in the world and will be greatly missed by Michael, Bambi, Gabrielle, Madeleine and Alexander. Max was preceded in death by his mother, father and younger brother.
