The Life of MARVEL MAURENE COOK

Marvel Maurene Cook, 85, of 1080 N.E. 60th Ave., died of cancer Wednesday at Hospice Kavanagh House. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Cook was born in Blue Ridge, Mo., and had lived in Teague, Texas, and Grand Island, Neb., before moving to Des Moines in 1965. She was the owner of Hutchinson Nursing Home and a member of Pioneer Women of Iowa, Order of the Eastern Star, Union Park Christian Church and Lucky Gals Tuesday Go-getters bowling league at Plaza Lanes. She is survived by a daughter, Elaine Dishman of Des Moines; a son, Bobby Dishman of White Oak, Texas; a sister, Corda Mae Cline of Alberta, Canada; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa.
