The Life of LAWRENCE LARRETT MAHAFFEY SR.
Services for Lawrence L. Mahaffey, 72, of 1825 Capitol Ave. will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Mahaffey died of a heart ailment Saturday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. He had been ill a month.
Born in Oskaloosa, he was a Des Moines resident 40 years. Before his retirement in 1960, he was a custodian in the Des Moines Public Schools for 17 years. He had been employed since his retirement as a security guard at Central National''s Drive-in Bank until he bacame ill.
Mr. Mahaffey was a member of Asbury Methodist Chruch.
Surviving are his wife, Lucille; a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Thompson of Middleburg, FL; three sons, Robert L. and Lawrence L. Jr., both of Des Moines, and Claude of Auburndale, FL; a sister, Mrs. Mahaley Hartshorn of Knoxville; a half-brother, Clinton Hiatt of Des Moines; two half-sisters, Mrs. Lula Miller and Mrs. Beulah Treat, both of Moline, IL, 12 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.
