The Life of CLYDE N MAUGHAN II

Clyde "Nick" Maughan, II, 64, of 2901 E. 40th St. died Saturday at Des Moines General Hospital. The cause of death is unknown, pending results of an autopsy. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hamilton''s Funeral Home, with burial at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Maughan was born in Loen and lived in Des Moines for many years. He was a music teacher at Goodrell Middle School, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the American Musicians Union, the Grand River Masonic Lodge, the Iowa State and National education associations and the Odd Fellows Lodge. He played piano for the West Des Moines Dixieland Band and the Red Sneakers Jazz Band. Survivors include his wife, Vera; a daughter, Kimberly Briggs of Carlisle; a son, Kevin of Lovilia; two brothers, Matthew of Garland, TX, and John of Cedar Falls; a sister, Arametta Romine of Center Point; and thee grandchildren. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
