The Life of CALVIN MAURICE HIGDAY

Calvin "Bill" Hidgay, 65, of 4215 Boyd St., died of cancer Monday at Veterans Administration Medical Center.  A graveside cremation committal service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Higday was born in Kellerton and had lived in New Castle, PA for 13 years before moving to Des Moines 30 years ago.  He retired as a self-employed carpenter and was a member of Baldwin-Patterson American Legion Post and an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Eleanor; a daughter, Shirley Knight, and a son, Robert, both of Des Moines; five sisters, Oletta Lamphiear of Grand Island, NE, Fornola Virden of Kellerton, Evelyn Dies of Hastings, NE, Melba Taylor of Sonoma, CA, and Rosalie Draper of Des Moines; two brothers, Robert and Eugene, both of Des Moines; and five grandchildren.

Hamilton''s Near Highland Memory Gardens is handling arrangements.
