The Life of IDA JUNE HODGSON

Ida "June" Hodgson, 79, of Richardson, Texas and formerly of Ginnell died Tuesday, October 25, 2004 in Richardson. Funeral services for Mrs. Hodgson will be held at 9 am Saturday, October 30, 2004 at the First Friends church in Grinnell. Burial will be held 6:30 to 8 pm Friday evening, October 29 at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell. The daughter of Sanders and Ila Meredith Van Willigen, she was born June 24, 1925 in Taintor, Iowa. She was raised in the Malcom area and graduated valedictorian in 1942 from Malcom High School. She later graduated from AIB in Des Moines. She was married to Bruce K Hodgson on June 25, 1948 in Bennington, Nebraska. The couple made their home in Des Moines and she was employed as a bookkeeper for several area businesses, including Des Moines Railway, Wheeler Lumber Company and Automotive Service. She retired in 1982 and moved to Grinnell in 1990. She moved to the Dallas area in 1998 to be near her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, and solving word puzzles. Over the years she managed to collect over 400 cups and saucer of which she held great pride in. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Janice Kay and Ronald Van Wyk and two grandsons, Jeffrey Scott and Travis Lynn Van Yek, all of Richardson, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce in 1994; and one brother, Carol Van Willigen.
